Professor Boynton served on the Agricultural Economics faculty at Purdue University (1978-82) and Cornell University (1982-84). He was the Executive Director of the Dairy Institute of California from 1984-93, a trade association representing dairy product processors operating in California. From 1993 - 2008 he was the Sr.VP of Marketing & Sales for Leprino Foods Company, Denver, CO, the world's largest manufacturer of mozzarella cheese. He was responsible for the marketing and sales of all cheese and whey products from the company's 9 factories (sales of $2.5B/yr). Since he left Leprino Foods, Professor Boynton has managed the family organic dairy farm in California, served on the Board of Executives of the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine & Food Sciences (2008-2017) and since 2017 has served on the Board of Directors of American AgCredit, a Farm Credit Administration-regulated lender to agriculture in 6 western states.
